‘Here and Now’ a full-length album from precocious Vermont producer Es-k features diverse, exquisite Funk inspired Instrumental tracks that are luminous, textured and soulful. ‘Cold Pack’ is a sultry Latin and Funk tune with seductive playful bass notes, tantalizing piano and melody with a beat at about 100 BPM. ‘Simplicity’ kicks off with a nostalgic old school R&B sound that is altogether also new and moving, with effective beat repeats and ethereal synth melody and lively drums. ‘Thick’ is a calming instrumental tune with lovely snare and piano carrying you to a nice and heady place. Following, ‘Get Together’ is a tune with grooving smooth bass and staccato echoing horns, chill and fresh, Dub influenced and regal in demeanor. ‘Intuit’ starts off right away with bright chiming synths purring and cathartic, a steady beat and snare slightly mysterious and definitely mesmerizing. ‘Funktion 2’ delicately starts and drops into an intoxicating rhythm of sounds, quixotic and bright, an electro mid range synth telling and impressionable. ‘Turn Around’ features a sweet high-pitched soul sample, xylophone-like synths playing a soothing melody; light hand drums and sub bass adding warm touches. Memorable, musical, chill and sweetly engaging, ‘Here and Now’ is balmy, funky, and electronic with well-rounded nicely selected instruments and keen production.

best downtempo/jazz album i've ever heard. listened to it going to the mountains for a day of river-swimming. this is the BEST album in the CB catalog. the only 'bad' song to me is I Ran Around which is just kind of dull and redundant, and even then it isn't all that bad. everything else is an example of what artists can and should aspire to within this genre, imo. dave
